I work at a clinic where we have 3 types of appointments:
Normal scheduled, Next Day Access, and Same Day Access.
Time is blocked off on the scheduling software, you call the day before for next day, and after 8am for same day.

people used to have a bugger of a time getting an fast appointment with their own doctor because all the slots were full up from weeks before
a fairly simple process change and now patients are happy
